Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice, but instructions are lacking I bought these today and was able to trim my dogs nails without minimal trouble. I think some of the people posting about how small the opening is failed to see that there is a little switch to unlock the clippers and allow them to open more. There's nothing in the instructions that explains the locking mechanism. I almost gave up on them and went back to the store but I was finally able to work it out. It really is something that should be mentioned somewhere on the packaging, and I think it would make this product a lot less frustrating for many users. This was my first time ever clipping dog nails and this was a great tool that allowed me to do it in very little time with little effort.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy!! I bought these for my 3 month old kitten and the experience was horrible. They barely cut through the nails and opening is so small it took a lot of effort (while he was fighting me) to get the nail in. His nails are tiny so i'm not sure how anyone uses these for their larger cats!?!? I thought I was spending a little extra to get something good. I'm returning these tomorrow!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont Buy I bought these cutters last night and I stopped using them after one paw. They are not shape and you have to apply a lot of pressure just to get thru the nail. Going back to return them today.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money I am a veterinary technician so clipping nails is something that I do on a regular basis. These clippers are probably some of the worst. The design feels very flimsy and the 'sharp cutting blade' had trouble getting through the nails, it left a lot of frayed edges. I purchased the largest size and they barely open up wide enough to fit over my dog's nails and he is only a 75lbs shepherd, how on earth you would get these to work on a dog larger than him is beyond me.The trimming guide is also a very awkward design. I usually remove these anyways as they just get in the way, but they have made the screw so long that even if you remove the guard there is a giant bolt in your way.Overall I would save your money and look into another pair of nail clippers. I will definitely be returning these and going back to the classic scissor style, doesn't look as fancy as these but definitely designed to get the job done!

Instructions for Use

  1. Monitor your pet’s nails and care for when appropriate to avoid overgrowth.
  2. Pet’s nails should not touch the floor when standing. Regular maintenance is important for the health and comfort of your pet.
  3. Before starting, note where the dead nail ends and where the live part – the quick- starts. Hold the paw firmly while gently pressing the base of each nail with your thumb.
  4. Use the nut on the outside of the nail guide to adjust desired cutting depth. Until you and your pet are comfortable, don’t get too aggressive. Cut just a little off every few days.
