New Pet Parent Starter KitFor Puppies:
All puppies are born with single coats, and do not develop an undercoat until 4 to 6 months of age. In some breeds, the undercoat will not develop for a year or more. FURminator®
deShedding tools should only be used when the undercoat has formed. Regular grooming and brushing should start at an early age. Puppies who are regularly groomed will become accustomed to the brush and regular grooming. Once an undercoat develops, you can start using your FURminator®
deShedding tool as part of your grooming regimine.
Kittens normally develop an undercoat at 6 months of age. You should start grooming your kitten early so she will become accustomed to the brush, but you should not use your FURminator®
deShedding tool until your kitten develops an undercoat and starts shedding. This normally happens at 6 months, but may vary depending upon breed or environment. Once your kitten’s undercoat develops, you can start using your FURminator®
deShedding tool to remove the loose hair from shedding.
