Terriers and Schnauzers -Ask the Experts

When we introduced the FURminator shed-less treatment last year, it was intended to be the ultimate process for removing loose hair and undercoat on dogs and cats. We asked top groomers Jay Scruggs and Scott Wasserman what they thought about our tool. Jay replied, "Using the FURminator helps to restore the color that darkens with clipping and it improves the coat texture after clipping. It also removes clipper tracks. It is easier to use than thinning shears as most pets are not comfortable with a pair of shears used near their faces. The FURminator is a great carding tool, it really helps to remove unwanted undercoat quickly & easily. Carding removes the undercoat which allows the top coat to lay correctly as well as removing whispy flyaway fur." Scott added, "The FURminator is a wonderful deShedding tool. It does a great job pulling out dead coat out of even the worst packed coats. I love to use the tool as a carding tool on Terriers & Schnauzers and also sporting dogs like the American Cockers, etc. The most beneficial aspect is the removing of excessive undercoat, helping to promote healthier skin. The carding also helps to get rid of clipper lines in thicker coats."

Jay Scruggs started his grooming career in 1993. He was a member of GroomTeam USA since 1999 and was the number one ranked pet stylist of 2001. He was the top groomer of GroomTeam for 2001 & 2002, and has won multiple “Best in Show” & “Best All Around” awards.

Scott Wasserman, also known as Mr. Terrier, is an internationally recognized judge, speaker, and competitor in the United States, England, China, Italy, Spain, Scotland, & other countries. He was featured on CBS News in December 2002 and is a representative for Wahl Clippers.
